Intaglio, Cyanotype
16" x 13"
2020
This piece is from a series depicting abandoned buildings across the US and experimenting with printing intaglio prints over cyanotypes. The cyanotype layer shows structural, pre-abandonment imagery and the intaglio shows post-abandonment imagery. The degradation of buildings often symbolize broader changes and period transitions in US history. The Remington Arms Factory was built in 1867 in Bridgeport, Connecticut. The factory was abandoned in 1988 due to deindustrialization and the company changing locations. As of 2020, the city plans on demolishing the factory but preserving the shot tower.
Prints may vary slightly from image due to this artwork being hand-printed.
